“Ultima Cleaning Ltd is my business, we are based in Cardigan and have been trading since the year 2000, we offer a cleaning service throughout west Wales, this service includes all the run of the mill cleaning services you would imagine…..carpet cleaning, window cleaning, office cleaning, post builders cleans etc…… however we realized there was a niche market to fill and for the past 8 years we have specialised in cleaning crime scenes, RTC’s, hypodermic needle collection, sanitizing following outbreaks, sanitizing soiled properties, decontamination police custody cells
and vehicles.
“We have developed a national accredited training course and have now trained over 400 companies nationally – and now offer a national service with national rates and a national 2 hour call out for biohazard cleaning services.
“We have been using Sell2Wales for about 6 years and we won a contract with Aberystwyth University for student accommodation cleaning The impact was good, we realized that we met not only financial criteria, but also realized that from a business quality requirement we also were in winning shape. This contract was worth approx £70,000.00 to our company.
“I personally realize how most tenders are awarded based on company size and turnover, as such I do not always tender for contracts that I perceive are too large for us to win, and I wait until the contract is awarded – when the award is placed on Sell2Wales – read the award and then contact the winning company, congratulate them on their success and then offer our services on a subcontract basis – doing this has won our company contracts with winning bidders and developed fantastic partnerships based on our local knowledge, reaction speed and location which have flourished to help us.
“If you do not win a contract and a Goliath like company has, don’t think that you David have to view them as your enemy! Learn to be the David who dances with Goliath! Also realize what the client is looking for….. is it local knowledge, is it cash flow, is it reaction speed, is it historical evidence of service, is it turn over, is it management structure… etc…. then decide how to fill that need they have.”
